Hello, I'm Katie Hewitt
Therapy for College Students & Young Adults
One of my passions is working with college-age students & young adults.
Through counseling, I hope that we can gain a deeper understanding of how you view yourself and the world around you. I hope you will discover a sense of empowerment to help you own your story with pride, as it has brought you to where you are today. I also believe strongly in focusing awareness on the present moment. This does not dismiss any thoughts or worries about the past or the future but acknowledges, accepts, and embraces that the only thing we have any power over is what we are doing in the present moment.
Therapy for Children
I have always loved working with children, especially children seeking help to manage symptoms related to ADHD, Anxiety, and ASD.
Play Therapy
I utilize play therapy, mindfulness meditations, sand tray, person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and choice therapy in sessions.

My Professional Background
I obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in December of 2015 and my Master of Science (M.S.) and Education Specialist (Ed.S.) in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in May of 2019. Additionally, I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, a National Certified Counselor, and a Professional School Counselor.
During my schooling, I obtained a year and a half of supervised counseling experience which was obtained at the Nicholas A. Vacc Counseling and Consulting Clinic and Alamance Elementary School. After graduation, I practiced as a Professional School Counselor at Bessemer Elementary School for two years and led events for Children’s Summer Services at Camel City Counseling.
A little more about me...
When not serving clients, I enjoy spending time with friends, playing with my pet ferret, and enjoying nature.
